According to research from the Malaysian Ministry of Health, vape use is on the rise in the country, including among women.
Deputy Minister of Health Lukanisman Awang Sauni points out that this is the finding of the above-mentioned situation in the Ministry of Health’s ongoing comprehensive study. The study also provides data on the prevalence of vape use.
He says: “Prevalence data do show an increase in the prevalence of vape use. Vapes are seen as a product increasingly promoted by the industry.”
“We also found that vape enthusiasts have increased among women. According to 2017 data, the prevalence rate is 2.8%, and it increased by 6.2% in 2022.”
During the question and answer session in the House of Commons today, he answered additional questions from Dr. Halimah Yacob, MP for the Kapu District of the Islamic Party. It is how the government plans to improve publicity programs to curb smoking and vapes. And, whether the Ministry of Health has comprehensively studied the triggering reason for vaping use and smoking habit.
Regarding initiatives or publicity to curb smoking and vape use, Lukanisman says the government intends to develop a packaging plan. The plan will act as a standard for the sale of cigarettes and vape products.
“The Ministry of Health releases specifications for vapes, such as the formats that the industry can use to sell them. And, they will begin to work with the Ministry of Education on publicity to raise awareness at the early education stage. So that children can refuse smoking and vape use.”
On the other hand, Lukanisman says the Ministry of Health has conducted 129 exchanges with NGOs and local governments. They are discussing appropriate enforcement policies to curb smoking activities in public places.
“Besides, the Ministry of Health will work with local governments to enforce the law as frequently as possible to curb the problem of smoking in public places.”
From the perspective of a Chinese vape factory, let’s talk about this. The increasing vape usage in Malaysia signifies a growing market and demand for vaping products. It is an opportunity for the factory to expand its customer base in Malaysia. Also, it is an opportunity to establish a stronger presence in the Malaysia vape market.
Besides, it may also indicate a shift in consumer preferences towards vaping as an alternative to traditional cigarettes. So, the vape factory from China can provide a diverse range of high-quality vape products. What’s more, it is important to meet the specific needs and preferences of Malaysian consumers.
At the same time, as a responsible vape manufacturer, we should also assume social responsibilities. The use of vapes by teenagers has always been a focus of social concern. Vape factories should avoid using attractive packaging. Also, when marketing products, attention should be paid to avoiding young people.
