Texas Warns Retailer Not To Sell Vapes That Appeal to Minors

UK Vape Retailers can now be fined for failing to set up portable take-back schemes for vapes. What’s more, the fine amount has no cap.
Retailers who fail to provide consumers with portable vape disposal options can get fined.
The UK Office for Product Safety & Standards (OPSS) already increase the fine from the original £5,000 to higher.
This regulation bases on the requirements of the WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) regulations. Alex Brothwood, project operations manager at Waste Experts, says the increase in fines is due to concerns that “no one is being prosecuted for not having a recycling system in place”.
In addition, retailers with less than £100,000 annual sales of electronic products, including vapes, must join the Distributor Takeback Scheme (DTS). The fees are depending on the size of the store and sales.
What’s more, shop owners with over £100,000 annual sales must provide customers with vape dispose way in-store.
On the other hand, Waste Experts offers vape waste containers to retailers for £168 each one.
Since the company launched the project in March, it has sold 1,000 of these waste containers. Brosewood says this is “not a huge number.” Retailers will pay £165 each time they collect waste containers.
Brosewood says:
“It was hard to get off the ground [with convenience stores] . Because under the DTS, retailers have to pay for the logistics of the collection and [vapes] are expensive to recycle. There’s a lot going on in the background with legislation to make it cheaper. But it’s currently costly.”
