In the first half of 2023, the number of vape shops in Russia has increased by 78% compared to the same period in 2022.
Recently, Russian Nicotine Union reports a data from analysts at Center for Research in Perspective Technologies (CRPT).
According to the data, in the first half of 2023, the number of e-cigarette shops has increase fast. Comparing to the same period in 2022, it increases by 78%.
In addition, the number of stores legally selling alternative tobacco products (ATP) such as hookah tobacco, cigars and cigarillos also increased. The number increase by 32 percent from 82,000 to 109,000 during the same period, according to CRPT’s analysis. At the same time, the number of outlets legally selling traditional tobacco products (cigarettes) increased by 25%, from 250,000 to 313,000.
Reva Yusupov, deputy general manager of CRPT, says that “Since the implementation of honest labeling, the number of legal vape sales shops increased rapidly and almost doubled. This is a clear sign that the industry has moved away from the black market and started to strictly abide by the law. Those “underground” vape shops that use to go unnoticed are now aware that they must operate in legal areas. The legality of other tobacco markets is also increasing.”
