Two research surveys show that 85% of teenagers have been exposed to e-cigarette advertising. The ads violate WHO bans and are widely distributing online and in other media that are difficult to regulate.

The study points out that many governments have implemented strict control policies on e-cigarettes. However, e-cigarette advertisements still find ways to reach young people.
What’s more, of the 4,107 study participants, 1,011 says they lack knowledge about e-cigarettes. These people are mainly from China (50%) and India (35%). In addition, about 85% of respondents say they have ever been exposing to at least one form of e-cigarette advertising. Moreover, most of the advertisements are through social media platforms, which is far higher exposure to other forms of media.
Further more, research shows another data. For every additional media advertisement a young person is exposed to, e-cigarette consumption increases by 5%.

More and more e-cigarette manufacturers, distributors and retailers are now advertising on social media and other online platform. They should set age restriction to these ads, avoid expose these ads to young people. In addition, the social media and online platforms should also strengthen supervision.
