New Zealand Minister of Health Ayesha Verrall recently announced that a series of new vape regulations will come into effect on September 21. The aim of these regulations is to restrict the use of vape devices by young people. These new vape regulations will have an impact on New Zealand’s local and global vape markets. As for vape manufacturer in China and other regions, it is crucial to understand and adapt to these new policies.
All vaping devices(vape pens, vape pods, vape mods and vape tanks) sold in New Zealand must have removable batteries. “This will make them safer.” Ayesha Verrall, Minister of Health of New Zealand, defines removable batteries as a product safety category.
This is an important regulation that the vape manufacturer should pay attention to. If the vape product you are producing does not have removable battery, it is time to change the design. This is a trend in the vaping industry.
Secondly, the new regulations clearly prohibit new vape stores opening within 300 meters of schools and Maori meeting places (marae). This measure aims to keep vaping products as far away as possible from children and young people.
In addition, the new regulations also restrict the naming of vape flavors. The regulations prohibit using names like “cotton candy” and “strawberry jelly donuts” that may appeal to children and young people. All the vape products should use generic names that accurately describe the taste, such as “orange” or “berry.”
The vape factory should pay attention to the naming of your vaping devices(vape pens, vape pods, vape mods and vape tanks).
The New Zealand government has also adjusted the upper limit of nicotine concentration in vapes. The nicotine concentration of disposable vapes is limited to 20mg/mL. While the upper limit of nicotine concentration of reusable vaping products containing only nicotine salts is 28.5mg/mL.
This is another aspect that the vape manufacturer should strictly follow. Make sure the nicotine capacity is legal in New Zealand when you are selling your vapes to there.
These measures are aiming at finding a balance between ensuring the effectiveness of vapes as a smoking cessation tool and limiting the risk of nicotine addiction.
“We have set the maximum nicotine levels to balance the need for sufficient nicotine to be an effective smoking cessation device, while limiting the risk of nicotine addiction, especially for young people, and particularly from cheap single-use vaping products.”
Finally, Verrall stressed that the New Zealand Government will continue to monitor the implementation of these new regulations. “We do not rule out the possibility of further policy adjustments in the future in order to ensure that youth vape products use declines while maintaining adequate smoking cessation tools.”
As vape factory in China, now is the time to carefully study these new regulations and think about how to adjust business strategies to adapt to the new global market environment.
